fnatic have outlasted NiP 2-1 (Mirage 16-9, Inferno 5-16, Train 16-13) to secure a spot in the semi-finals, where the Swedes will meet Astralis.
fnatic got off to a flying start on their pick, Mirage, grabbing the pistol round and the first couple of gunrounds on the back of a clutch from Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson and a quad-kill from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson to go up 6-0 as CT.
Ninjas in Pyjamas's first successful round following a B split was enough to send their opponents on an eco, which they used to add a second round on the board, but fnatic were soon back in cruise control. Defending the A bombsite multiple times in a row, Maikil "Golden" Selim's team powered to a 12-3 half.
The Ninjas began to climb back thanks to two defuses by William "draken" Sundin, the first of which was in a 4v3 situation in the pistol round and the second in a 2v1 advantage in the gunround. With aggressive play towards mid and a clutch from Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, Ninjas in Pyjamas reduced the deficit to just three rounds. Jesper "JW" Wecksell stopped the streak with a key double in the next round, inspiring fnatic to close out map one with four rounds in a row for a 16-9 victory.
Inferno was the choice of Ninjas in Pyjamas, who started on the CT side and gave fnatic a taste of their own medicine at the beginning of the second map, running away with a 7-0 lead. KRIMZ & co. then put their first on the board, but couldn't string more together and found themselves with little to no money shortly afterward, as Ninjas in Pyjamas added three more to their score.
A successful CZ-75 rush towards B inspired fnatic to claim three of the last four rounds, but it all seemed in vain when Dennis "dennis" Edman secured a 1v2 situation in the pistol round for his team, killing the defuser in the last moment. Surely enough, Ninjas in Pyjamas went on to force map three at 16-5.
Train was the deciding map, where fnatic picked up an early 3-0 lead despite dennis's amazing triple in the pistol round, as KRIMZ and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist turned around a 2v5 situation. Once Ninjas in Pyjamas got a hold of weapons, however, they kept defending both bombsites with relative ease, taking advantage of full utility to stop fnatic's early pushes. It wasn't until 9-3 when fnatic stopped the streak thanks to early picks on the inner bombsite, which allowed them to grab two out of the remaining three rounds for a 10-5 half in favor of Ninjas in Pyjamas.
An incredible 1v4 from f0rest yielded his team the following pistol, but fnatic found a reply with pistols and a Scout to begin their climb back into the match. After closing the gap to 8-11, fnatic conceded the first gunround, but they were soon in the driving seat again, coming out on top of several retake scenarios to claim their first lead since the sixth round at 13-12.
That was when Ninjas in Pyjamas broke the streak on the back of an early pick towards inner, but they couldn't string any more rounds together, as fnatic outlasted their Swedish rivals at 16-13.
